Our 18 Point Process
CABINET PAINTING GURU’S UNIQUE 18-POINT PROCESS
You’ve made the right choice!
Cabinet Painting Guru will save you up to 75% over replacing or door/drawer replacement with our cabinet painting process. Less money, less dust, and NO WAITING weeks or months for new cabinets to arrive! And since professional cabinet painting and door/drawer replacement is all we do, you will be amazed at the quality of your finished kitchen cabinets!
Our team, our products, and our cabinet painting process is different. Because our Founder is an artist, we view our work as art – and we treat your kitchen refinishing project like it is our own. Keep in mind that you may not find our quote to be the lowest. This is because we CLEAN, PREP, and SAND more than others. We do it right and these steps are CRITICAL to your job looking great and LASTING for many years. If these steps are not done properly, your paint will slide off and chip in less than 2-3 years. Sadly, some cabinet painters give you that lower quote, take these shortcuts — and most homeowners won’t even know it.
Below are the steps that we carefully follow on every kitchen cabinet refinishing project. Our 18-Point kitchen cabinet painting process detailed below will help you quickly understand why the Cabinet Painting Guru’s process is different. It will also help you understand why we exceed customer’s expectations — Every time!

1
LET’S TALK!
Simply text us 4-5 images of your kitchen to (215) 982-0131, along with your full name, street address, and email address. We will then email you an exact professional quote to PROPERLY clean, sand, prime, and paint your kitchen cabinets.
If you’d like door replacement, a more expensive solution that allows you to change the style of your kitchen cabinet panels, start by sending us your images. We will be in touch to discuss our detailed steps to get the exact measurements of your NEW styled panels and drawer covers.
2
IDEA SESSION
Our initial conversation should quickly give you a general idea of your cabinet restoration options and what separates our professional cabinet painting from others.
3
PROFESSIONAL DESIGN SERVICES
Looking to do more than paint your kitchen cabinets? Once you book with us, we can also connect you with a designer on our team. We have accomplished home designers — especially kitchens. They can help you choose or confirm the right colors as you map out and create the new look for your kitchen tune-up!
The kitchen is the heart of your home where you spend most of your time – so if your kitchen design project is more than cabinet painting, let’s plan it right – and get you in touch with our trusted partners who are experts at granite, sink, backsplash, floor tile, appliances, and kitchen islands!

5

Finalize the design, the schedule, and make your deposit to get on our calendar.
6
DAY ONE OF YOUR PROJECT
We visit you, carefully remove and clean your cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
7
CLEAN & DEGREASE
Cabinet Painting Guru prides itself on spending a lot of time on surface prep – one of the most important steps in the process. Prior to the sanding process, we use Simply Green cleaner to effectively remove all the debris, oil, and grease. This process will degrease years of cooking splatters and kitchen oils so that after we sand extensively, your beautiful new primer and paint color will stick and harden properly to a clean, scratch free, silky smooth surface.
You’ll find we “do more than the other guys” in this step because it is the most important step. Shortcuts here will leave you with a paint job that won’t last as long as it should.
8
SAND
Sanding scuffs up the surface of the cabinet and opens up the pores of the wood for primers to sink in, create the necessary adhesion, and ready the surface for the finish coats. Our top of the line sander picture above is DUSTLESS so it leaves NO dust in your kitchen!
If the profile of your kitchen panels and drawer covers is more complicated, we’ll get your panels on our industrial grade commercial sander pictured below. This machine gets down into the detail – and leaves a very smooth finish ready to be primed.
9
REPAIR
We take the time to repair any minor imperfections. We’ll fill these imperfections with professional grade Bondo or wood filler. We make nicks, holes, gouges, and scratches disappear. If you have “more than a few”, please let us know so we can get them all!
And then we sand more.
10
CAULK
Some cabinets have small separation seams that need to be filled to make your cabinets look like a connected unit. We use caulk to permanently seal those gaps.
Another extra touch offered by the Cabinet Painting Guru.
11
PRIME
It’s starting to get fun for us as the cabinet refinishing project continues – and we prime your cabinets using high-tech industrial grade primer and the best HVLP spray gun and compressor on the market.
12
SAND MORE
Your cabinets are going to be smooth. Very smooth.13
ALL PAINTING DONE ON-SITE
We create an airtight cocoon in your kitchen and begin the priming and painting phase. You relax – and we get to work putting your cabinets through the most extensive professional cabinet refinishing process available. This process will leave your cabinets looking better than brand new.
Our unique process separates us from others who take shortcuts. We spend a lot of time on how we prep and how we spray. This is the difference between your paint sagging, chipping, losing it’s lustre or chipping vs. our jobs which last for many, many years.
14
THE FINISH COATS
Now things are really starting to transform as we apply your new color.
15
MULTIPLE COATS
We will spray 2-3 coats of paint until we achieve a smooth, even colored, factory grade finish. Our team inspects and ensures perfection after the final curing process!
16
HARDWARE OPTIONS
You can continue to use the hardware you currently have or discuss new hardware options. We’d also encourage you to install, if you don’t already have them, soft-close hinges on each of your cabinets. A soft-close hinge is a type of hinge that features a hydraulic mechanism built into it. When you close the cabinet door, the hydraulics take charge and ease the door closed in a completely silent gliding motion.
17
INSTALL
Once the cabinets pass our quality control checks, we’ll install and put the finishing touches on. We’re not done until everything is perfect!
18
YOU INSPECT & APPROVE
We don’t leave until you inspect, approve and until you are smiling. Your smile is the most important currency – and we mean it!
